Oscillations
2017
Somehow we’re alive
at the same time.
Oscillations is a joint universe of solitude, a performance for three bodies becoming a collective body that is excessively human, and as such, never fully human. Expanding upon Demer’s ongoing artistic research into human processes of partnership, attachment, and entanglement; the performers are incapacitated to their own individual agency and move towards a greater sense of self-as-environment.
Each performer’s body is a site that becomes inhabited, possessed, re-populated, decomposed and transformed. Through a variety of relational configurations, we perform the inevitable condition of interdependence; inhabiting fresh expressions of cohabitation, intimacy, affect and affection.
The work was first developed as a culmination of two years of broader research in the MA exerce, in choreography; performance and research in ICI-CCN Montpellier, France.
Within the emerging landscape of Oscillations resides emotional absurdity and humor, immersed to stay alive.
